"Sun Basking," a portrait of one of the felines that rule our household, has been accepted into the November Members Show of the San Diego Watercolor Society entitled as "Artful Thanks."
The show title is entirely appropriate for me. I am so grateful that out of over 200 entries, "Sun Basking" received the honor of hanging with over 100 amazing artists, among them Beverly Berwick, Carol Mansfield, Robin Erickson, Shuang Li, and Charles Henry Rouse. See the member entry here.
"Sun Basking" has always been a special achievement for me, the warm play of light from a window over a contented cat on a side table, the vertical blinds casting slivers of sunbeams over her head and dancing across her fur. It has always spoke to me of the special places we find that warm our hearts. The irony of this painting is that it was painted over the course of two of the rainiest San Diego days in 2015.
As of this article, the original is still available and I have many sizes of prints available in the online store on this site.
Many thanks to the jurors and board of the San Diego Watercolor Society, I am always grateful to be accepted into this gallery.
