There Goes My Hero

In our house a regular occurrence, almost a tradition if you like, are early morning waffles with our grandson. Not a morning out at Denny's or McDonald's or In 'N Out, a breakfast prepared in the kitchen with family. It's never really about the meal, it's about time spent together spanning three generations, time that will slip away all too quickly, time that many parents miss because whatever is going on in that cell phone is more important than being present.
"Sunday Waffles" is not about the characters really, or the colors of early morning in the kitchen, it is about time and being present. It is about showing our children this is how we live life, not through the things we buy or the places we go, life is about how you spend your time with those around you.
Personally I can't stand waffles. I do, however, love these moments, and hope this is a lesson he carries with him.
